The Per Item Taxes tab is used by some countries to assign a GST or FST Tax on a per item basis.  Per Item Sales Tax Rates are activated within the Company Entry and Management module.  Click the Sales Taxes tab and then uncheck the "Use GLobal Sales Taxes" AND the "Use Global Purchase Tax" boxes, then SAVE the Company record.  Alternatively to enable per item sales taxes you can Load the default country setting for Canada and click SAVE record.

PST: Sale-Exempt: - Check this box to exempt PST/State Taxes for this item.  
PST: Sale-Rate - Enter the per item PST/State sales tax rate % for this product or service. Enter rate in the form 0.07 for 7%.  
GST: Sale-Exempt: - Check this box to exempt GST/Government/Federal Taxes for this item.  
GST: Sale-Rate - Enter the per item GST/Government/Federal sales tax rate % for this product or service. Enter rate in the form 0.07 for 7%.

PST: Purchase-Exempt: - Check this box to exempt PST/State Taxes for purchases of this item.  
PST: Purchase-Rate - Enter the per item PST/State tax rate % for purchases of this product or service. Enter rate in the form 0.07 for 7%.  
GST: Purchase-Exempt: - Check this box to exempt GST/Government/Federal Taxes for this item.

LOAD TAX DEFAULT Button - The Load Tax Default Button loads the default company tax rate setting.  The default Company Tax Rate setting can be updated in the Company Entry and Management module.  Click the Sales Taxes Tax.
