| The DB Backup and Repair maintenance module is designed to provide database preventive maintenance and backups. This module is designed to provide four (4) database maintenance and recover options (1) Full Backup Only, (2) Full Repair Only, (3) Full Backup and Full Repair, and Full Database Recovery. | ||||
| 1. Full Database Backup Only - This option provides complete database backup without a database repair. This option backs up all SBP*.* files in the Data directory (i.e. "C:\Program Files\SBMPro\2003") and lpaces an uncompressed copy and a compressed, time stamped copy of the database files into the default backup directory (i.e. "C:\Program Files\SBMPro\Backups". The compressed copy of the database files is used for long term storage and the uncompressed copy of the database files is used for quick manual or to recover Last DB backup with option #4 | ||||
| 2. Full Database Repair Only - This option performs a complete database repair without performing a backup. It is always recommended that a Full database backup be performed before performing a database repair. The SBMPro Databases are MS Access 2000 based files that require routine repairs. Microsoft recommends that a database repair be performed at least monthly on a highly used Access Database. | ||||
| 3. Database Backup and Repair - This option performs a complete database backup (Compressed and Non-compressed) followed by a Full Database Repair. This option is the preferred option. | ||||
| 4. Database Recovery From Last DB - This option performs a complete database recovery from the last successful "Full Database Backup". Note: A FULL DATABASE BACKUP MUST ALREADY EXIST. THE DATABASE RECOVERED WILL ONLY BE AS CURRENT AS THE LAST BACKUP TAKEN. | ||||
| Alternative Backup and Recovery methods: An alternative backup and recovery method involves simply periodically copying the entire Data Directory to another secure location or backing the directory up to tape, disk or other media utilizing other third party backup software. | ||||
